Milan, January 26, 2012 – Sorin hereby informs of the receipt of a notice of claim filed with the Milan Civil Court. The first hearing is scheduled on June 15, 2012.
 
The claim, filed by SNIA S.p.A., in extraordinary administration (“amministrazione straordinaria”) seeks to establish a potential joint liability between Sorin S.p.A. and SNIA S.p.A. for any debts arising from and/or otherwise relating to possible environmental clean up obligations related to the chemical activities of SNIA S.p.A. and certain SNIA subsidiaries prior to the demerger of January 2, 2004.
 
Sorin has examined the proceedings received, believes the claim to be without merit and will strongly contest the claim in all available manners and forum.
