The Company is the world leader in cardiac surgery (extracorporeal circulation, autotransfusion and heart valves) and is a growing player in the cardiac rhythm management (CRM) market.

In 2012, SORIN GROUP demonstrated the strength of its foundations by successfully recovering from the consequences of the earthquakes that affected its manufacturing site in Mirandola (Northern Italy) and by gaining shares in the CRM and heart valves markets.

Saving the lives of disadvantaged children with heart diseases

Since January 2010, Sorin Group has established a long-term partnership with the Association Bambini Cardiopatici nel Mondo, a charitable organization whose mission is to provide pediatric cardiac surgery in developing countries.
Over the past three years, SORIN GROUP has supported the Association’s projects with an overall financial grant of €850,000 and with donations of Sorin’s life-saving medical technologies. Part of the grant will also be devoted to research activities in the field of congenital heart disease and fellowships for medical doctors.

Sorin employees are also participating actively as volunteers in the work of Bambini Cardiopatici nel Mondo.
To date Bambini Cardiopatici Nel Mondo has more than 150 volunteers who were involved in more than 300 missions, performing over 2,000 cardiac surgery operations in 19 countries.
